Magazine
General tip
DO NOT include Volume and Issue information in magazine article citations.
If the magazine is monthly, use the month and year. If weekly, or an online article, use the specific day, month, and year.
Magazine — Print version
Format:
Last, First M. "Article Title." Magazine Title, date, pp-pp.
Example:
Poniewozik, James. "TV makes a Too-Close Call." Time, 20 Nov. 2000, pp. 70-71.
Magazine — Electronic version
DOIs or URLs are required for all electronic sources.
Library Database: Provide the same information as you would for a printed journal article and add the name of the database in italics after the page numbers and before the DOI or URL.
Format:
Last, First M. "Article Title." Magazine Title, date, pp-pp. Library Database [if available], DOI/URL.
Examples:
Bernstein, Mark. "10 Tips on Writing the Living Web." A List Apart: For People Who Make Websites, 16 Aug. 2002, www.listingblog.com/10tipswriting.
Caney, James D. "On Thin Ice." National Geographic, 4 Apr. 12. www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/2011/07/polar-bears/.
