General tips
Must include volume, issue and year. The year may include season or specific date.
If the journal has only issue numbers and no volume numbers, then cite the issue number alone.
Journal — Print version
Format:
Last, First M. "Article Title." Journal Title, Volume, Issue, date, pp-pp.
Example:
Bagchi, Alaknanda. "Conflicting Nationalisms: The Voice of the Subaltern in Mahasweta Devi's Bashai Tudu." Tulsa Studies in Women's Literature, vol. 15, no. 1, 1996, pp. 41-50.
Journal — Electronic version
DOIs or URLs are required for all electronic sources.
Library Database: Provide the same information as you would for a printed journal article and add the name of the database in italics after the page numbers and before the DOI or URL.
Format:
Last, First M. "Article Title." Journal Title, Volume, Issue, date, pp-pp. Library Database [if available],DOI/URL.
Examples:
Zanarini, Mary C., and Frances R. Frankenburg. "Drs. Zanarini and Frankenburg Reply." American Journal of Psychiatry, vol. 162, no. 9, 2005, pp. 1759-60. Web of Science, www.search.lib.umich.edu/articles/record/?query=frankenburg.
